I have my wedding picture posted at the boutique. So, today I thought it would be cool to take my wedding gown in and pop in on a mannequin and see what this 15 year old Mon Cheri dress looks like today. As I admire the dress on the mannequin, I still love it today as much as I did when I bought it 15 years ago! Hope you enjoyed my little throwback today.
Kelly Did you ever notice that you never get sick of ice blue, snow white and silver? It just so happens that they work so well together and especially during the winter months. There are a few other combinations that also work well with ice blue, snow white and silver, and they are jewel pinks and other blue hues. Lets focus on these hot shades that make 2014 winter weddings look ever so dreamy. The Invitations When it comes to winter wedding invitations we think formal is the only way to go. Christmas and winter is always the time for a wee bit of sparkle and shine. We also love the idea of glitzing up the envelopes with some shimmery lines or rich contrast colors. As well as color consider texture and motifs to get the perfect look for your wedding. The Bouquet White hydrangeas, soft ranunculus and other fuller plump flowers are popular for any winter wedding bouquets. If you want a more modern and contemporary twist then add some sparkle into your bouquet to keep things looking fresh and glam. Table decorations Making your wedding reception feel warm and inviting, why not add more light, the added aid of light of candles. The Cakes Vintage-style ice blue and white wedding cakes with silver powder will look divine. Make them look formal with added shimmery powder and iced piping or even cute dainty little roses or snowflakes. The wedding attire for the entire wedding party I haven't come across too many blue wedding dresses yet, but I was able to find a few inspirational ones on pinterest. I also found some wonderful demonstration of ice blue bridesmaids gowns. They are so soft. And we can not forget the men! Here are some handsome matching men. The Bridal Accessories We love pretty jewel or pear earrings for winter weddings. Check out these pretty shoes and purses we found to accessorize your special day. Hope you enjoyed and got some inspiration!
Kelly photo credits: pinterest Spring is such a great time to hod a wedding. This year you will see popular color palettes toned down and watered down into pastel shades, however this season you will see some brights that move with the transitional period into summer. Keep and eye out for dazziling blue and juicy oranges. The start of spring we will see cooler pastel blues and mints, which will scream spring wedding! Dazzling Blue Placid Blue Violet Tulip Cayenne Celosia Orange Hemlock Sand Paloma With those inspiration collages, can you see your wedding coming together? Make sure you choose a color that YOU love and that really reflects YOUR personality. If cool pastel shades don't really agree with your loud personality then it may seem strange to guests, so make sure it really says YOU. Also consider how to mix your colours, don't just stick to one, why not try using a stronger color to help blend in with your chosen color. Plus don't be afraid to stick to these colors, choose a darker shade or lighter tint of these popular colours, you'll still be on trend but using it to your advantage.
Take Care, Kelly If you are getting married spring / summer 2014 now is the time to be out dress shopping. Here at The Perfect Pear we try to make the experience as fun and easy as possible. It is that time of year and we have a lot of new brides coming in for the first time. While a lot have watched every episode of TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress", when it is there turn to go into the salon they are unsure of what to expect. What to bring? Who to bring? When to start the search? Here is some tips on how to make the most of your experience.. When To Start the SearchIt is usually not too early to start looking for the perfect dress, but it can sometimes be too late. Most companies require 4-5 months after the order is placed for production. It never hurts to add onto that about a month or so leeway for human error. Mistakes do not happen often, but they are a possibility and there is always a solution, but the more time that is on our side the more options there is to choose from. So with all that in consideration, along with your alterations the timeline of when you should order a dress is about 7-8 months prior to your big day. Beware of Shopping Online![]() Too many times brides get taken in by the online deals… Only piece of advice we can give is, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Many of these sites post pictures of designer gowns, and sell them at discounted prices. What many people do not realize is that the dress they are getting is not the dress in the picture; it is actually a counterfeit version of the dress. You can see from the pictures (left) the variances. While some people strike it lucky and find a dress online, most times they get stuck with a dress that they are unhappy with. Do Your HomeworkGoing into bridal shops can be overwhelming sometimes. So many beautiful dresses to choose from makes it hard to make a decision on which one is “the one”. Also many brides wonder “what else is out there?” Before you gather up your posse and head into the shops, take some time to yourself and look online. Go to all the websites of the shops you plan on visiting, see what lines they carry, and go on those lines websites. Every dress from their collection will be on there, it is the best way to open your eyes to all the possibilities, and be confident with the decision once you make it. Something Old, Borrowed or BlueIf there is anything specific or sentimental you would like to wear on your wedding day bring it with you. If your mind is set that you want to wear this item for sentimental value it is important to make sure it complements the dress you choose. Though keep in mind this can narrow down your options considerably. Pick Your PosseBring a small posse with you on your dress shopping experience. Keep your party to a minimum though, one, two maybe even three people, not too many more. Too many opinions can be overwhelming . There will be many opportunities throughout the planning process to include all the people you would like to, take a few with you each time you would like help, and everyone will get a chance to be involved.

Stella York 5865 Pop of Color! Not one for white or ivory dresses? Wanting to make a statement and stand out from the crowd? Why not try a pop of color for you wedding day look! While everyone tends to stick to the traditional white or ivory we are seeing a trend of pale colored dresses. This made us interested to find out is there anything behind the color of dress we choose to wear? Just for fun we did some digging on the internet and this is what we found. White: White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the color of perfection. This color of choice for the traditional bride is and will always a staple in bridal fashion. Ivory: The same thing that is said about a white wedding gown can be said about an ivory one. It is also a very traditional color. However, some believe that ivory is also a symbol of tainted innocence. This is old school thinking and nowadays brides go for ivory because it looks better than white on their skin. Red: Red may symbolize many things, the positives being love, infatuation, strong emotions, excitement, energy, strength, and passion. Many different types of cultural-based weddings are where red wedding gowns tend to be the most popular. But don’t count out the bride that simply wants to make a statement and stand out from the crowd. Pink: The color pink represents innocence, a child-like personality, freshness, purity, love, good health, and good life. It can also be worn to show a more flirtatious personality. Pink is normally a color associated with women and their feminine side. Blue: Blue is obviously associated with the color of water and the sea. It represents calmness and peacefulness. Blue also conveys femininity, life, purity, etc., just as water does. Blue can also symbolize stability, security and lifelong loyalty. Blue is also a traditional Irish wedding dress color. Black: Black is often looked upon as an eerie color—and an odd choice for a bride. But black wedding dresses are here and they are here to stay. Black can also be a color of elegance or class (such as a black-tie only event, and black evening gowns). Black also represents power, sexuality, sophistication, formality, wealth, mystery, depth, and best of all, sheer style. Thinking of a color for your wedding day look now? All these dresses featured in this blog can be found in store at the Perfect Pear Bridal. Call (902)370-7327 and book an appointment to try one out and see if a pop of color is for you!
